No Real Photo, Avatar Instead
Well, the article I had in mind today to write is centered around why online, internet, MLM, network, and affiliate marketers choose to use an avatar, emblem, or some sort of logo instead of inserting a genuine photo of themselves on Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, VK, and other forms of social media.
One reason an avatar is used is because they may want to really solicit, expose or promote the business they're representing. This isn't an invalid reason at all. There are cases when a new business is in a pre-launch or just starting out. Marketing your business is big when it's fairly new or just starting out.
A second reason you may decide to select an avatar instead of your real photo, is you may be just starting out as an online marketer. In the beginning, you may not be very comfortable using your real photo, because it's a business that is a bit foreign and strange. Not all of your friends and family may get it. You may want to use some ambiguity, so your good friends and family don't quickly draw conclusions.
Now, it will vary from person to person when it comes to whether you should use your own real photo or an avatar. Personally, I find that when you decide this is a long term type of business that you will see through and not just a rash decision that you change your mind later, then a real photo is great because you can really start building your own brand. Your credibility will be much stronger when someone can view your real photo. I especially like to see photos of the person as well as their family. You become real and not just someone who is trying to sell something.

How to be a Positive Thinker, not a Stinker
My son Bronco started me to think how I measure up on becoming a positive thinker.
First of all, I want to preface this blog by saying .. It's not easy to always be a positive thinker. There will be times and days you will be down. It's inevitable. The mindset is you don't stay down.
There have been role models in my life, who I attribute my optimistic personality. My Father and my Grandfather. They both possessed qualities I thoroughly admired. My Dad always had a joke to tell no matter the circumstance. My Grandpa Brown in his own way always seemed to have a smile on his face. I would be foolish not to be thankful for their examples.
I learned early on from both of them that you give everything or nothing at all. When you have decided to invest time in something, you roll up your sleeves and work until you've finished
Three years ago my in laws family had gathered to camp at their property, at Sunridge. There were tents to be set up, of course. One tent in particular was fast becoming very problematic to set up. I worked on the set up with a family member. This tent was becoming a nightmare to put together. Many people had said not to continue and it was to old of a tent or parts were missing. Well, it wasn't in my nature to give up that easily. I persevered, didn't give up until the tent was completed. It was well after dark, but I finished the task. PERSEVERANCE is key in remaining a positive thinker. You must keep on, keeping on.
There's the next step in becoming a positive thinker. You have to remember to always smile. A smile is super important in being viewed as an optimist. It gets you in the mindset of having a good day, even if you're not aware of it. Funny thing is, you keep that smile on your face and everyone else will start to wonder what it is you're constantly happy about. Look at a mirror, place a small mirror on your work desk, make it the first thing you do in the morning. SMILE!
Next step, SEE THE POSITIVE in everything or anything that you experience. Please don't misunderstand me. This doesn't mean you sugar coat everything to the point you are naive or oblivious to how it really is. Bad things will happen. Some very bad things may happen. You will be better off to find the best and most positive out of the toughest life has dished out. You may have to dig deep to finish this step. We are in control, ultimately, over how we react. We also are the captain of our emotions. This is something you must solidify in your brain. Believe this wholeheartedly! When we are offended or insulted, we have decided that. We will choose to have are feelings hurt or not. BE CHEERFUL.
As I have become wiser, I now know I that my sense of humor has become a huge tool for me. HUMOR has been determined to be a great medicine. If you can make light of some of the harshest times of your life, you will become your master of any disaster. In fact, I have made it a point to watch a funny sit-com on TV or a comedy on DVD or in the cinemas when I'm down. It's great pick me upper. Learn to LAUGH in the least opportunity to giggle.
To remain a positive thinker, you really have surround yourself with like minded people. Think about it ... How are your chances to find the best when you surround yourself with whiners or what I call "Negative Neds or Negative Nellies". Your chances are much slimmer to see your happenings in a positive light when you have a bunch of your friends hammering on the bad stuff. Have "Positive Petes or Positive Patricia" around you.
Lastly, Walk the Talk. Do as you say as well as you can. Your credibility will shoot out the window if you don't practice what you preach. Be a doer, not just a sayer. The only difference between triumph and try, is a little umph.
Bandwagon Fans
Bandwagon fans? Where did that term come from anyway? Has anybody checked Wikipedia to find out if it stems from the 1800's?
Well, I'm a very active sports fan. Since I was in in grade school I can remember watching NBA, NFL, Major League, and a little NHL. I was born in Denver, Colorado and my Dad/brothers always had the TV glued to the Denver Broncos and the Utah Jazz. Naturally, I began to root for those two teams the most.
As a fan I had to endure the Broncos Superbowl losses, then I was elated to watch the Denver Broncos win Superbowls 31 and 32. Recently I had to go through Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall years. Oh, then the a Kyle Orton era. The very next season Kyle Orton was benched during a game vs San Diego. This started the heart attack string of games, when Tim Tebow game managed games with the read option offense popular in college football. During the rest of this season, like a Hollywood script, Tim Tebow would somehow pull games out of his hat in the last two minutes of the games. There was an exciting playoff game finish in overtime against the Steelers. Then reality hit when the Broncos were exposed as a one dimensional team that focused too much on the run. The Patriots convincingly out played the Broncos. Cinderella season over.
During the very next off season John Elway became the general manager for all intents and purposes. He had some mile high magic still left in him and he courted Peyton Manning to play for the Broncos. The season didn't start well, but facing a 24 - 0 against the San Diego Chargers ..... Peyton Manning pulled off a magical win. Then the Broncos didn't lose another game till the playoffs. The Ravens won that game, but the Broncos had plenty of chances to win it.
Anyway, back to the term Bandwagon Fan. Have you ever had a friend, Co-worker, or relative that rooted for a specific team wholeheartedly, but when the chips were down and the favorite team tallied up losses instead of wins ....at this time this is where the bandwagon fan rears his/her head. You know this person? It's the fan that suddenly pops back up when the favorite team starts to win again. It's not a visible rash, but this is an irritation of mine. I mean, what up with that? I mean I know it's a game, but should we use that same philosophy with politics, religion, or business? Call me old school, but when my Dad raised me "You follow a team through thick and thin". My Dad didn't teach me to be a quitter.
My call to action is when you generate a conviction for a something that gives you hope, don't blow out the fire on the metaphorical candle when the flame is dimming. Things will turn around.

Success on GPS
Success
Looking at this Success sign made me ponder on how great it would be to have a GPS navigation device like Garmin or Tom Tom, so we could find our way to financial success more easily. I mean how great would it be if we could re- route our direction we’re headed and prevent some potential financial pitfalls? Invaluable, huh?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way for us. Most the time we make unsure decisions that put us off our path. We sometimes put too much faith in other people or businesses. It can be a real Gamble. Our losses can range from small to gigantic financial woes.
The remarkable thing is when we make calculated risks. That’s where we can find our solid map to find Success. Well thought out & premeditated business plans can be our navigation system. Risk taking is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be based on unreliable information. Rash and impulsive decisions are rarely goldmines. Make sure you think it through when you make your success plan. Your success is counting on it.

Lance Armstrong
lance-armstrongs-interview-oprah-winfrey-cyclist-admits-

Today I was on small break to wind down a bit. Well, while I was sitting down for th ought I
turned on the TV. On the news I was informed that Lance Armstrong had met with Oprah Winfrey
to confess his shameful doping. This started me to think how such a hero could fall from grace?
For years Lance had become, in my eyes, an honourable & impressive athlete. He had wrestled
with cancer and became a victor. For all intents and purposes Lance Armstrong had become
the "Michael Jordan" of the cycling world. Many of us sported his endorsed, rubber, & yellow
colored bands. I wore the band myself as a reminder of what we can become when we simply
believe. So, now we have sadly found out that this inspirational icon had been doping along.
Many, many times he had been asked about possible wrong doing or dishonesty. His response had
been echoed a resounding "no" for years. My emotion was initially of shame.
You see, I am a huge sports fan. I really like to watch athletes do amazing and incredible things.
They become so remarkable in our eyes, we become shocked when they become normal after
having heard of transgressions. Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Pete Rose, Mark McGuire and others
have shown us that heroes aren't perfect. Nonetheless, let's choose to find the good in not only
our sports icons, but also in ourselves.
The biggest step is not the step towards the basketball hoop, the endzone, the last hole in golf, or a homerun. The biggest step is understanding we all are capable of amazing, incredible things, and conversely we all are fallible. We are prone to mistakes. It seems that we are to quick to fall down & focus on the fall, but not quick enough to rise up! It's ok to know we are not perfect. It's better to learn from our own falls, then to dwell on the fall & not how we can rise from it. When we have the potential to become more than we are. Most successful people make a habit of doing what unsuccessful will not do.
Okay, so now we move forward. We continue to understand that a mistake isn't then end. How do we focus on the positve from bad experiences? Surround yourselves with positive things. Read positive books, emails, or magazines. Be premptive or prepared, so that when you face a difficult experience, you've had already been prepared. Be strong.

The Underdog
Underdog

The Enduring Value of the Underdog Story
Underdog themed stories will never go away. They capture an aspect of everyday life that we all feel at one point or another – that desire to belong and be respected, which is why I’m okay with the over saturation of these stories we see every year.
As much as I rail against the inequities of a Hollywood machine that continuously produces the same old schlock, hoping to capitalize on nostalgia and good intentions rather than decent story telling, there’s something to be said for some of those good old-fashioned formulae.
For hundreds of years, popular entertainment has relied on any of a few very prevalent themes and archetypes in its characters that will always be successful. For as long as there are those out there who feel picked on, weaker than their brethren, and held in disgust for that weakness, there will be films about them overcoming. It’s an ages old formula that has worked again and again in films since the medium was created.
It worked for the likes of Harold Lloyd in his classic silent films and in the comedies of the 50s, 60s, and well every other decade beyond. The same old formula when put to the ultimate test by Sylvester Stallone in 1976 with Rocky managed to garner 10 Oscar nominations and wins for best director and best picture.
What works so well for the genre in the long run is that it doesn’t try to do anything more complicated than present a classical dilemma. It’s not good against evil. There is often a romance, though it’s marginalized for the sake of the film’s focus. There are only the underdog and the rest of the world. And we, as film goers, enjoy rooting for the underdog more than anything.
It’s a phenomenon not rooted only art. For anyone who has ever watched the World Series and found themselves not caring one way or the other about the two teams playing, nine times out of ten, they’ll ask “who is the underdog”. While popular music and entertainment is home to a great deal of powerhouses, people with big names, big money, and big power, there are plenty of underdogs.
The public doesn’t tend to go out of its way to find these underdogs. We wait for them to come to us. Without the inclusion or arrival of the slew of different underdog contenders though, what are we left with but the same old people, making the same old films and albums?
We recently saw the catapulting of a young Federal Way resident into the top 6 contestants of American Idol who had minimal if any talent as a singer. His was an underdog story, one that America fell in love with and allowed to capture their hearts for just long enough to realize that the formula does not always work.
That’s right; there are certain characteristics and circumstances in which the underdog must exist to be effective. First off, the underdog in question must be someone we can relate with. A millionaire in a boat race who happens to be not as good as another millionaire in a boat race doesn’t feel like an underdog. A true underdog hero is someone who comes from the areas we come from, the streets we grew up on and the schools we attended. Often full of weaker personality characteristics and lacking the skills of their more talented competition, the one thing they always have is the tenacity to become better.
An underdog stands up to society and its opinions of them, trying hard to become stronger and better, no matter what everyone tells them. There’s a reason that we see films every single year play out the same formula as their predecessors – people enjoy watching them.
If you look at children’s shows, cartoons and the like, note that the characters are never the rich kids in town or the athletic jocks. These are the nerdy, quiet kids who are gifted with special powers, an amazing quest, or the chance to overcome all odds. They are often faced with all sorts of obstacles and eventually overcome them, joining the ranks of the truly great.
The moral message inherent in these and other stories is vital to the state of entertainment media. There’s a good reason that this kind of film returns every year and people willingly shell out more money. It’s a chance to vicariously live one’s own experiences through the triumphs of another. It’s a psychological release as well as an exciting chance to witness something we can only dream for our own lives.
When Rocky goes the distance with Creed, we can’t help to think that if a regular guy from the streets of Phillie can make it, why not us? When we see the formless, talentless kids of The Mighty Ducks win the championship, we wonder why our own ill-shaped bodies cannot someday overcome the laziness that plagues our days and nights and become an athletic superstar.
I’m okay with the repetition of this theme among so many other overplayed stories and film genres because it’s one of the best and one of the most enduring themes in human society. We all want to overcome adversity and become something special. These films offer us a glimpse of the determination and will needed to do so. If a film can be inspirational despite awful acting, horrible direction, and dredge writing, I can manage to deal with that.
