Double Trouble

The next story I’m about to share is neither embellished or fabricated. Listen up here, because I’m about to share a real story of one of my strangest twin experiences. Yes, you heard me right. I’m an identical twin. We were born at Fitz Simmons hospital in Aurora, Colorado. In fact, initially, they had called us Brown A & Brown B until our names were were officially given to us. Not that I’m bragging or boasting, but I was born first. My twin brother, Jeffrey, was born roughly 10 minutes later. Our parents gave me the name of Jared Arnold Brown, then my twin brother was named Jeffrey Alan Brown. Our names shortened both spelled out the word Jab. Casually, my twin has gone by Jeff most his life.

You know there have been far greater advantages to being an identical than negative disadvantages. I always had a friend to play with, a friend to confide in, a friend to support me. When were still kids we dressed alike in the same shirts & pants. In fact, if you look at or photos from out childhood or infancy, it’s hard for even me to distinguish me from my brother. Our voices are very similar as well as are our mannerisms. Very frequently when we answered our land line telephone, our friends or family got us confused on account of our similar voices. We had grown so close that we sometimes finished each other’s sentences. There was a period of time when developed our own little language based on pig Latin.

The strangest twin experience I have personally experienced, with all honesty, is when I had slowly developed a very painful toothache in a certain spot on the inside of my mouth. I had brushed it off for days until I could hardly stand the pain. It was at that point where I put my pride on a shelf and vocally declared to my Mom that my mouth was in some pain. She looked at me with growing nervousness and made me an appointment with a local dentist. When the day came to see our dentist, my Mom made an appointment for Jeff, my twin, to see the dentist too. Due largely to my to my toothache causing me pain, I was first to see the dentist. I nervously hopped up onto the chair. My Mom assured me I was going to be fine, then I got myself as comfortable as possible. Next the dentist thoroughly checked my mouth to find the cavity. He scanned my whole mouth for a cavity, but very oddly he found none. I looked at the dentist with near disapproval. Jeff had his turn now. Jeff sat down and became prepared to have his mouth checked as well. It is was at this very moment, I witnessed the most mysterious twin phenomenon. The dentist surprisingly found a cavity in Jeff’s mouth, where I had a toothache in my. When the dentist filled his cavity, my toothache was sincerely gone. In other words; I had felted the toothache or pain for my twin brother. I had shared his pain! when his cavity was filled , my toothache was truthfully gone.

In life we go through our fair share of pain. I know I may not be able have your pains, but I know I can give some support and condolence. Let’s work together.
