Are we seeing the best of LeBron James? This debate will come up every year until LBJ has either retired or he has won 6 Championships. Is LeBron James better than Kobe Bryant? Is LeBron James better than Michael Jordan?
The thing is, we really haven’t seen the best of LeBron James yet. That is the most exciting part of watching his career unfold. For real, that’s where all the intrigue lies. He can only get better. There is so much potential. He has the grasped the concept of winning as a team much earlier than Kobe. His body is bigger than Michael’s. He is one of best players to run down the court, when an offensive or opposing player is running down the court for an uncontested lay up, then he swats the ball from the opposing player before the ball has gone through the hoop.
At the beginning of his career he was criticized for apparently not having a killer mentality. It seemed as though he passed the ball instead of taking the last clutch shot. To be top banana, he had to mature.
Okay, then we witnessed how he had done as much as could in Cleveland and he felt as if he had to take his talents to South Beach. We saw his less than leadership decision to go to Miami on national TV. He became a member of the Miami Heat. He merged his potential with Dwayne Wade & Chris Bosh. In the first season with the 3 super stars together, the Heat went to the NBA Finals and lost to the Mavericks. More questions ensued. In the 2nd season with the Heat, he showed more determination and nearly put the team on his back to ensure the Heat won a NBA championship. He finally hushed some of his naysayers.
I’m going to enjoy watching his career continue. He has made some mistakes. He has repeated some of his mistakes. On the flip side, he has also matured. He has become more of a leader. He has given us a glimpse of what he may become.
It’s very much like that in our own lives. We all have a superstar inside us. We have that super potential just waiting to be harnessed. We will make mistakes. We will repeat some of those mistakes. But the upside is so much sweeter. Dig deep and tap into that reservoir of beauty that that we all deserve. Be a Superstar!
